This song by the versatile Aces should be a comfort to everyone who has lost someone and an inspiration for us to lead the kind of life to join them someday.

  • I saw the Aces live in Calgary backing Alice Cooper in the mid to late seventies when a wind blew over a speaker and they had to take a break. The lead singer walked up to the mik, raised his index finger and said loudly, One way, praise the Lord. When he did that I felt a rush go through my body, heard sporadic whistles in the crowd and felt the holy spirit strong. When we left at the beginning of the Cooper set I renounced the spirit of divination. I've never looked back.

  • I want this played at my funeral ...

Great message, great production, great harmonies and picking.

  • These guys could do anything!

  • This is the best version I have ever heard of this timeless classic. I love how it is slow and somber then joyous and full of the spirit!

  • the late great byrd burton just pickin' away......what a musician.

  • make THE run successful... spanning Jordan's swelling tide

Listen to this song in a VW Passat.

  • We had it sung live at my Dad's memorial service - it was beautiful.....

  • Yeah, I feel the same way about Santa...

  • @ichthus1890 Praise The Lord!

  • I gave a 'hoot' when I found this post. Thanks!!! (Only one minor thing with the lyrics, it's "bridge of trials." Like in James 1 where we are to count it all JOY. Glory!)

  • That one little lick from the Hammond B3 just before the chorus...you just know this band has more surprises than a pinata tied to a Christmas tree!

  • My great-grandmother and her daughter, my grandmother, had this song sung at their funerals (not by The Aces). I don't know what my dad's plans are, but I plan to keep the tradition going at mine.
