An oil based economy such as ours doesn't need to deplete its entire reserve of oil before it begins to collapse. A shortfall between demand and supply as little as 10 to 15 percent is enough to wholly shatter an oil-dependent economy and reduce its citizenry to poverty. Google "peak oil".

Stop sending people into coal mines where operators don't worry about safety, for mercury laden fuel. Stop spilling oil in the waters. No unfortunate waste that can't be placed anywhere but weapons. Stop the cash flow from our country. The answer is in the wind. I hope UPC gets richer than the oil bastards. Let's charge electric car batteries with this electricity. How many miles could 100 electric cars weighing 2000 lbs each drive from the electricity generated in a week by one mill. I know conditions vary but it is something to think about.

Drove down 390 today and saw the beautiful windmills..How many of them are up there on the ridges? How has the productivity progressed [or not] since 2007? I'd love to have one behind me up on my suburban ridge..but are they in any way noisy? Hope their appearance has been more accepted by locals.

yeah, save the planet....but destroy small towns in the process.....the VERY towns that started this country. Yeah, I am all for saving the planet and alternative energy. But to go into a small town because there is less people to piss off is NOT right. How many 2000 lb. electric cars are there dude? I havent seen any that big yet. The farthest I know of ONE car going on an electric charge is only 40 miles, then it has to use gasoline. WOW, that should take our worries off global warming!

Ethonal, fuel the SUV with food, that upsets me. We need some facts on why wind doesn't work, not just you saying it doesn't work and using a hateful term. What are the much better ideas? Why don't you sit in front of your camera and explain the facts on how and why using the wind doesn't work and why coal, ethonal, oil, and nuclear power is better. They don't travel the road because the fields are not ready either. It's just gravel, clay and sand easy to fix and the construction will be over soon. The "Magic Energy of Ethanol" is the SCAM of the century. If you search youtube for "casella nysdec" you will see videos of what the dump does to us. It has split our community. The millions of tons of waste will do damage in the future far beyond what a turbine is doing to you.

Ugly is working in a coal mine. Ugly is what coal emissions are for lakes, human health and polar ice caps. Ugly is a nuclear power plant that has dangerous waste you can't do anything with. Ugly is fighting and dying in a war in Iraq for energy. I think that the wind turbines are beautiful because of what they do and ugly is not an argument. Unfortunately I do live near these ugly monsters and will be unable to just up and move as we have put every penny of our hard earned money into our "HOME". We have lived here our entire lives, raised our children, loved what we saw out of our windows...we had hoped to have our grandchildren come here and love it also but it no longer gives us the pleasure it once did. When you have a home and family of your own you may understand how it feels to have someone change it without your permission.

I don't know where you live but I know that specific road and it has NEVER looked like that no matter what the weather was. Why do you think farmers stayed off those very same roads until spring had arrived and dried up the excess water before putting heavy tractors, etc on it. These roads are not meant for non stop traveling of oversize loads that were expressly forbidden to be on them until the condtions had improved. If you lived here you would see SCAM everywhere you looked.

These turbines don't melt ice caps. People who don't like it will have to move just like those who live next to a nuclear power plant where the waste is stored on site and the risk of waste in the air is possible. Remember Chernobal.
