This is the full video of the Livingston Street Railroad Crossing (Tewksbury, MA). I went over to my aunts house for a family birthday party/BBQ. It was my aunt's 70th. I parked up next to crossing and took some shots of the idol crossing. The gun fire you hear is from the Tewksbury Rod & Gun Club that is a quarter mile away (behind me). I arrived about 2PM and waited over 2 hours. Just after 4PM, I heard the signals go off and ran to the end of the driveway and got the train! (62 Cars) I left about 6PM and took a few more shots of the idol crossing. You can still hear my cousin's band playing in the back ground.

This is where my grandparents lived when I was a kid. My grandfather died in 1979 and my grandmother the following year. My aunt and her son's family now live here. I spent hours sitting in their living room and front yard watching the trains go by. This is why I love RR Crossings!

This was the first time in over 25 years that I have seen a train go through here, and it was the first time ever I saw the gates in action.

The crossing has change a lot since the 1970s. The gates were installed only a few years ago (2000 or 2001) and they moved the bell. The businesses you see on the other side of the track, did not exsist when I was a kid. They went in during the 1990s. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When was this video taken?

  • Early August, 2008

  • Its funny because ive always wanted to see a gulford locomotive but i have never seen one even no i live in massachetts

  • It depends on where you live in Massachusetts. PanAm (Guilford's) main line comes into MA from NH in Haverhill, follows the Haverhill MBTA Line to Lowell Jct in Andover. Then goes through Tewksbury to Lowell to Chelmsford to Westford to Ayer then out along the old Fitchburg main line to the Hossac Tunnel. Through North Adams then into VT on it's way to Troy, NY its western termanis. They use the Lowell MBTA Line to go between Lowell & Somerville.

  • Mmmmm, thanks a lot! Maybe a little tired from the party, it was going on a few hours before I started taking the video.

  • You think that train is long? 62 cars in 2minutes and 4 seconds? Well isn't that too bad you have to wait 2 minutes for such a short train to go by. When I was kid, they were over 200 cars long and took almost 10 mintues to pass.
