but to be fair the Atlantis expedition did send a probe through first.
in SGU they didn't even send a probe and just walked into the gate totally unknowing what's on the other side

yeah they sent a malp before going thru the stargate, and even if they wouldn't have made it the first time they would have reach atlantis in dedalus after they got the CPM at the end of season eight o f SG-1.

@Setr0p Scott was the MALP, besides I already explained how it would work (read above). Maybe they would have gone there when the Daedalus was up & running, but those people would still be dead as fuck. Without anyone there to make it a priority Daedalus would have probably been kept in our galaxy more to fight the Ori & the Lucian Alliance. But then again, without the information from Atlantis, they might not have ever met the Ori, or even gone to Destiny. By the way, it's ZPM.

It is good (almost) but it is also very stupid: they had sent a MALP before and they knew that they could cross, not as in SG-1 with the great door ORII and in Universe to arrive on Destiny

@wayneski1290 Prototype is the name of the episode where they discover the gate or DHD is capable of filtering travelers, e.g. organic versus inorganic. Anubis set it up (in that episode) so that it would redirect to another gate to hide what he was doing. In this case the Ancients set it up so that only inorganic material could pass through the force field. Which would explain why the Wraith didn't just dial Atlantis from within the Pegasus galaxy that whole time since their tech is organic.
