  • I love it how you have an Italian woman playing a Spanish lady in a French opera with a Japanese chorus!

  • With many regrets, I have to announce that the best mezzo-soprano in the world died on the 5th of May 2010, a few days before she became 100 years....Now she can sing in heavencoral with the other vocal stars.... Requiescat in pace, dear Giulietta.

  • It's not "an old way of singing", it's just the Italian translation of Carmen!

Until the 50s (and even later in regional thetares) in Italyu it was common to sing Carmen, Magic Flute, all Wagner etc etc tranlsated into Italian

  • Isn't Carmen sung in French? That sounds exactly like French, with the Japanese subtitles on the screen, since it was aired on Japanese TV in 1959!

  • doodlydoo , it'snot frenchalian ... it's simply old Italian - I can tell you 'cause I'm Italo-american and of course i speak italian ! It's an old way of singing ...but Simionato was one of the best Mezzo all over the World !!! Go and wacht Geraldine Chauvet in YOUTUBE .

  • i don't get, in what language is she singing? frenchalian?

    i like her sassiness.
