@joegrafter every PS3 plays PS1 games. Its the PS2 games that most PS3's have a hard time playing. I have a 40GB PS3 and i play all my PS1 games on it, including granturismo 1 & 2. the 60GB PS3 is the only one that came with the PS2 reverse compatibility hardware CHIP. The 80GB has Simulation hardware that can play the PS2 games with help from a software update from the PS store online. However the 60GB PS3 does smooth out the pixels better on PS1 games because of its hardware.
