We hear of so many good, bad and indifferent stories of industrial school-children who were adopted. But those who were sexually abused take the biscuit altogether. it's weird really - as children who never set foot outside Goldenbridge, always envied those who got selected to go out with host families. Invariably, they were mostly the same girls who also had educational opportunities outside the institution. There are many who'd have loved to have been adopted, just to get out of the hellhole.

The Catholic Church got away with the horrors, because, it was, as though, it were a conjoined twin with the Irish government. The government and Vatican ruled Irish people with an iron fist. One only has to read about why Ireland's famous writers had to leave Erin's shores, and they'll find out, how grossly stifled and censored they were indeed. The latter were as dirty and unwanted, as the children, who were incarcerated into Irish Dickensian industrial "schools", for most of their childhoods.

@Piper33 There were lots of children, like Mary, and those whom I mentioned in previous comments, including myself, who were given the most vile jobs to do in Goldenbridge. We were specifically chosen ALL the time, because we invariably had no visitors, or, were disliked, because of our personalities. By the same token, there were children, who were selected for dancing classes, outside education, music lessons, other privileged perks & posh people to go out with for holidays. So grossly unfair!
