My sense is that Matelo was not such a big guy, and yet I think he's playing a Favino, which is an even longer scale than a selmer jazz model...also a bigger body. He tears into that guitar and imposes his will: INCREDIBLE!

Historic, Merveillieux! This clip shows us the joy the musicians bring to this music. There is a great article by San Francisco newspaperman Herb Caen who went to see Django as a G.I. in Paris in the 1940's and saw M. Ferret instead.

Saw this about 20 years ago on a programme about French Jazz on BBC 2, was knocked out by it then and I still am. Just wonderful
