This is a romantic period piece made in 1998 based on Edith Wharton's 1912 novel 'The Reef'. It actually follows the book pretty well and, yes, it is old-fashioned, but I liked it. The two women's characters are almost total opposites but I could relate to them both and really liked them. One broke my heart because she's so brave; the other because she's such a coward. Poor Timothy is stuck in the middle trying to be faithful to his true love after he's already been unfaithful -- duh! There are so many complications while he's trying to rekinde the old romance that I'm surprised he wasn't sweating more! Speaking of sweat -- there are a couple of scenes where he is sweating and they are PG-13. I'm uploading this because it's almost impossible to find on VHS or DVD. Enjoy!

Main cast of Passion's Way:
Sela Ward
Timothy Dalton
Alicia Witt
Jamie Glover
Leslie Caron (she's aged beautifully -- how's that for dating myself! :-)

  • I love the characters in this movie. I wanna buy the movie. Ebay and Amazon don't work for me. Hmm, wonder where I could get it. Timothy was good looking and Sela was such a cool beauty and so elegant. Thanks for sharing!

  • @kikyo4ever Amazon sells this movie in a set called Love, Loss and Affliction (?? -- Crazy title!) for under $10. There are 12 movies on 3 2-sided DVDs.

  • Yes this movie is very melodramatic !! , But Timothy made worth watching it !

and it was a pleasure for me to hear him speak french ! thank for uploading !

  • @kr241168 Thank you for watching and commenting :-)

  • I think Sophie is the brave one and the other is the coward, I think both women are strong.

  • @realmagiclover Yes, you are right: both women are strong. Anna, to her detriment and Sophie to her credit. Sophie was very brave for a single woman in 1912. She was not afraid of life, or the truth. Anna was afraid of life, especially competition -- Charles was always hers and she was still afraid to to reach out and take him. Thank God one of them had the sense to seize the day! LOL

  • @pacemoy I love them all! Period classic drama films, TV miniseries or melodramas; but with TD it makes them all the better! Thanks! Also thanks, Chica for the updates!

  • Thanks for commenting. I know this movie is terribly melodramtic, but it IS Timothy, after all. LOL And I don't know about you guys, but there's nobody I'd rather wallow in melodrama with than Timothy :-)
