This is based on the same electric discharge principle as EDM, but that is where the similarity ends. This machine uses a mild steel blade as an electrode for a non toxic, non corrosive fluid to conduct the charge. It is much faster, up to 70%, than EDM wirecut, doesn't have the issues or expense of bandsaw or waterjet and wastes much less material. We will update the video after the Eastec 2008 show in May.

Is that an EDM? If it is it looks different, what brand is it and what is it cutting? It looks like you are using it like saw? We have EDM that we use for cutting ultra hard blocks before machining but it takes a very long time. Would like to see more video of it.
