The Blues played a very physical game with CCES on Wednesday afternoon. After dominating the first half with shots and offensive possession, the Blues took the lead on a goal from rookie, sophomore, Paige Madden. Sophomore Kendall Smith created the opportunity with scrappy play in the center of the goal.
CCES came out very strong in the beginning of the second half, tallying the next score on a full field breakaway. Goal keeper Autumn Stone played the first shot well, but the defense was a little too late on the ball that hit the post. Within one minute of play, Captain Sydney Coggiola and sophomore Cleo Yahn put the Blues back on top with nice passing and an excellent finish on the right side of the goal by Coggiola. Three minutes later, the game was out of reach, as Coggiola set up left forward, junior Kathyrn Muller-who put the third goal in with authority.
In the concluding minutes, junior Kelly Koon, sophomore Laura Gibbs, junior Virginia Swan, sophomore Davie Boone and junior Megan Friedman held the defense solid, as CCES attempted to penetrate the final third. The Blues held with continuous solid play and a great team effort. Go Blues!
