Welsh National Anthem - Rugby Crowd Sing at the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff, Wales.

Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau

Lyrics:
Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.

Cytgan
Gwlad, Gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.

Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd,
Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn i'm golwg sydd hardd;
Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si
Ei nentydd, afonydd i mi.

Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwald tan ei droed,
Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ac erioed,
Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad,
Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad.

Translation:
The Land Of My Fathers

The land of my fathers, the land of my choice,
The land in which poets and minstrels rejoice;
The land whose stern warriors were true to the core,
While bleeding for freedom of yore.

Chorus
Wales! Wales! fav'rite land of Wales!
While sea her wall, may naught befall
To mar the old language of Wales.

Old mountainous Cambria, the Eden of bards,
Each hill and each valley, excite my regards;
To the ears of her patriots how charming still seems
The music that flows in her streams.

My country tho' crushed by a hostile array,
The language of Cambria lives out to this day;
The muse has eluded the traitors' foul knives,
The harp of my country survives.

  • Beautiful.

    I'm English and love to hear the Wales fans sing, I remember first taking notice of it when I was a kid, they were my fave side to watch in the mid 70's, what a team! It wasn't easy being English back then lol.

  • I'm English but the hairs on the back of my neck never fail to stand up when I hear this.

  • Bravo Bravo.. Love it.

  • Always reminds me of the film 'Zulu'. Sends shivers.

  • I'm french and i love our 'marseillaise' but hearing 'land of my fathers' right before france-wales RWC semi-final made me shiver. This anthem is beautiful and so is the Welsh people... When we won I was both happy for France and sad for Wales (although I was rather happy, obviously)

  • Absolutely beautiful anthem, I get goosebumps every time I hear a Welsh crowd sing it!

  • If there was a world cup for anthems then this would win every tournament. No other anthem in the world can move you to tears even though you're not from that country. Good luck against the French!

  • ONE NATION UNDER ONE VOICE!

  • Land of my Fathers is the best anthem in the world,the best song sung at any sporting event in the world,but what really does it for me is the crowds singing they are ordinary people,but together their voices can move grown men to tears,wonderfull!!

  • @seagerton i thought i was the only one that cryed lol

  • if only they could scrummage

  • God I wish we had a national anthem like this. It must be the most moving anthem in the world. What do we have? We sing the praises of an old crone and the parasites that surround her.The Welsh, the Irish and the Scots sing about their land.When are we going to change the dirge that is "God save the Queen"
