American School of Indian Art presents 'Vinayakam'. Composed by Kanniks Kannikeswaran in 1991, its first choral performance at 'Basant - A Musical Celebration of Spring' was recorded later in 1994. Included in this clip are i) part of a 1997 performance, ii) footage from the Manakkula Vinayakar temple - Pondicherry, iii) footage of a ceremonial procession of an image of narttana Vinayakar - George Town - Madras (Chennai), along with several images of Ganesha.

  • No matter how often I listen to this, something happens deep inside me. This song moves me the same way it did when I listened to it first 14 years back. Kanniks at his very best..
