I had an ex gf tell cops all kinds of lies one Friday when I broke up with her. I heard from a friend she went down to the police station for something and knowing her I went right down as soon as I heard. Long story short I spent that day and the weekend in a prison (3 days) and the only windows were 10' up near the ceiling. The lights stayed on 24hrs a day also so it felt like much longer. I can't imagine solitary. It all seems like torture in their own ways. The system fails and needs work.
@miamiwax Thanx for asking, I'm pretty well. I've pretty much gotten over that experience, that's been over 10 years ago. The cell I was in was at MCAC, Maryland Correctional Adjustment Center, 401 East Madison St. Baltimore, MD. Basically, I was locked in the "cadre" at supermax. The cell did have ambient light, but also, I was in a 3 piece restraint. A chain around my waist with my hands cuffed to it, and shackles on my feet. 6 months gave my broken rib time to heal.
I did 6 months in a cell almost like that. I had a concrete slab only to lay on and there was a small window in the door to let light in and a window in the end of the cell, also a toilet and a sink. No mattress, chair, pillow, shelf or anything else.
The "Birdman of Alcatraz" Robert Stroud, spent 42 years in solitary confinement.
