Because the animals of Australia are so very different from what us Northern Hemispherians are used to, I decided to make a video just for them. These photographs, mostly in the wild, were taken from August 2005 to September 2006.

My favourite animal? The kookaburra, because of their laugh-like call. Here is a video of one laughing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0ZbykXlg6Q

The song is I Come From the Land Down Under by Men at Work, a bit cliche, but what is more uniquely Australian than the animals themselves?

Real wildlife:
-boxing kangaroos
-very nasty stingers, northern Queensland is not a good place to swim or surf
-ants with a vitamin C, just lick their green abdomen and scurvy will stay away!
-kissing a sea-cumber brings good luck they say
-a resting roo, but ready to jump up, look at his paw
-hard to see, but that is a croc
-bush turkey?
-very tame parrot
-sting ray covered in sand
-another parrot
-an echidna, they are very shy
-wombat, a walking tank
-tame parrot take two
-and another parrot
-cockatoo up close
-wallabies, while I was sneaking closer two huge ants bit my ass through my jeans
-mama and baby koala
-Christmas tree-like sea animal, appropriate given the time of year
-black swan and its cygnets
-duck and its ducklings
-surprised koala, sleeping on the ground 30 seconds prior to this photo
-up close with the obnoxiously loud cockatoos
-sleepy penguins
-clown fish
-the most amazing bird ever, the kookaburra
-rabbits, now all over the continent
-another type of cockatoo
-white tail spider, next to my bed
-household wildlife, two down and three to go
-of course this sign had to be included

Not so wild wildlife:
-a wombat, no it is not dead
-wallaby and its joey
-me feeding a wallaby, it is very soft
-the excited and erratic platypus
-another wallaby
-albino wallaby
-sleeping Tasmanian devil
-I thought I had a photo of a wild camel, but I do not

Sighted, but not photographed:
-cassowary, an endangered relative of ostriches, and emus -emus
-spiders big and small
-many other animals
