Peter Bonet [black t-shirt] competing in the "Chi-Sao" competition of the Wong Fei Hung tournament 2008. Peter won his first 2 rounds; but was disqualified in the third round for a toe kick to the throat! Yes, the throat! Although it was an illegal, and no doubt painful kick; it was a excellent kick at that!

Peter is the N.J. Branch Fut Sao Wing Chun representative.

  • Peter is a student of James Cama Sifu

  • yea. I trained bamboo forest with Dennis Lee. What about yourself. And I know some of the guys down at the steelwire school. Oh yea watched this clip again this guy is using alot of mantis style sticky hands. Anyway Lam sang jook lum in usa is different to ours here but it's all one family. where is rawcliffes Sifus School in brum?

  • okay, my mistake

i was also considering mixing up wing chun and mantis; specifically, shaun rawcliffe's wing chun in birmingham and steelwire.

the two styles seem to have very nice bridging elements within' them - in terms of both forearm work and atmosphereic/spiritual/metaphorical/whatever bridging between the two styles

are you a birmingham mantis student? i noticed you had commented on a school video

  • I know. I was purely refering to his technique. This guy is a rep for moy yat Wing Chun in New Jersey and it seems like he c an switch between both styles nicely I recognise his sticky hands cuz I trained in jook Lum

  • his t-shirt is mantis, too

  • who won the tournament? was it a muay yat student from nj?

  • I would suggest that the light-shirt fellow was using too much force against the bigger opponent. To stiff. The black-shirt fellow was smooth and fluid and simply and effectively let his opponent do all the work for him. Excellent job to both!

  • What was the guy in the light shirt doing wrong? I don't know, so I'm actually asking. It looks like pete (a guess from the other comments) was leaning forward, using a lot of body weight, could that be used against him? Was he just better and you'd need to be better in all aspects, and this is a stupid question?

Great video, great chi-sao, thanks for the post.

  • wut did that man say after Pete used the sweep?

  • Damn, this guys is good; his hands move fast & smooth for someone of his size. Good hands.
