Carl and Donna--Above All Else, I Intend to Have Ryan Happy No Matter What It Takes

Carl pays Donna a surprise visit and seeks her help in reuniting Vicky and Ryan. Donna thinks that Carl has been the one sending threats to Grant, and that Carl also wants to hurt Vicky. Carl points out that hurting Vicky would hardly serve his purposes, because above all else, Carl wants Ryan to be happy, and right now being with Vicky is what would make Ryan happy. Carl tells Donna it's time for her to set her wayward daughter straight; will she do it, or must Carl? Carl also makes a remark about Donna sounding like "Mother Cory" (Rachel) and asking if that's her role model now. Donna refuses to align herself with Carl, telling him he is the most despicable person she's ever known, and that he should be put in prison for what he's done. Carl says he didn't threaten Grant, but Donna doesn't believe him. Carl persists, telling Donna that their children need their guidance. Donna tells Carl that Vicky really wants to marry Grant. Carl retorts that even he knows that just because a child wants something, that doesn't mean it's good for them. Donna replies that Vicky is not a child anymore, and neither is Ryan, and they have decided together that they have no future as a couple and they should respect that. Carl wants Donna to set up a meeting for him and Grant, so that that "prig of a Senator" will release Victoria from this entanglement. Carl finds an invitation to Vicky and Grant's wedding and commends Donna on not announcing the location on the invitation, asking if she's afraid Ryan will come to his senses and stop the wedding. Carl gets angry when Donna tells him that Grant asked Ryan to be his best man. He anxiously asks if Ryan agreed. Donna tells Carl that Ryan refused to be Grant's best man, so Spencer is going to do it. When Carl asks Donna to call Grant and set up a meeting with Grant for him, Donna threatens to have Grant sic the FBI on Carl. When she turns around, she finds that Carl slipped out while her back was turned, and so Donna goes to her open front door and yells at Carl to get back there, because she's talking to him.
