John Lasseter answered press questions following his presentation at the Disney D23 Expo on Sept. 13, 2009.

His presentation revealed that Walt Disney Animation Studios is working on a new hand-drawn Winnie the Pooh movie as well as Rapunzel, a computer-generated film in the style of classic Disney princess tales. We wondered if elements of either of these films would come to the Walt Disney World Fantasyland expansion announced yesterday.

Video shot/edited by Ricky Brigante.

  • Does John Lasseter ever go to Magic Kingdom in Florida?

  • @jvfunn3000 Yes, I've seen him there before.

  • Of course Ricky puts up his question... lol

  • I put my question up because it was the only Orlando theme park-related question in the press conference. The rest focused on the movies that Lasseter discussed in his presentation.

  • @disneynut06 Disney Channel anyone?

  • Love John Lasseter and Disney Pixar

  • @ephi88 Well, he has every right to be, since cleaning up all the MAJOR messes that Eisner left behind before he was forced out is a very difficult task that may take years to finish.

  • @bobbyfasel it is the story of rapunzel yes indeed, but really the film is known as tangled.

  • is it true it's replacing toon town

  • Rapunzel is currently set to be released on November 24th, 2010.

It's set to star Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, and Zachary Levi as Flynn (the prince). There will also be several familiar faces in it as well (Jim Cummings, John Goodman, etc).

The animation style /now/ is set to maintain the feel of 2d animation within a CGI/3d animated film. From current stills, it looks pretty good!

  • wen is rapunzel coming out??
