  • I thought Windsor was bigger...

  • Poles never conquered this castle. We tried after victory of Grunwald/Tannenberg (1410), and in 1466. At least, we bought this Stronghold from rebel mercenaries of the Order. Than Malbork was prison for traitors of state.

  • @MaximusProteus Regretably I will be packing soon I have an assignment that needs urgent attention and that means heading for an office Europe.

  • @historatia Yes, accidentally they happend to "work" in the same region.

I see you`re not willing to push this discussion forward, pas?

  • @MaximusProteus Don't confuse H.S. Chambelain's work with the full scope of German historiography.

  • @MaximusProteus No need.

  • @MaximusProteus Of course, now its accidental .. oooohhh

  • @historatia No my dear, in theory - de iure if you prefere, Emperor was the highest secular sovereign in chistianity, de facto each sovereign and especially crowned rulers had thier own, independnt politics and often opposite to the Empire. If you disagree, i can bring many examples to back it up.

  • @historatia Thier importance differed in different times, but generally they`re much overestimated by the German "historiography" and the link between both is vague. The funniest myth that Germans propagate is the suposed "might" of the Order, not to mention the XIXc nationalist tend to picture both organisations as purely German.

  • @historatia Whatever relationship, it was more accidental due to the geographic location than anything else, these were two different, separate organisations. It doesn`t mean i`m dismissing relations between sacrum and profanum.
