  • I also play the double bass, but not nearly as good as you. So amazing, I didn't think the Six Studies could sound this beautiful. You make me want to practice for ten hours!

  • even better then a studio session, this is truely brilliant!!

  • Youtube doesn't seem to accept web addresses in the comments

  • Here's a link to me on violin, foy your interest. Haven't figured how to get the audio up to youtube:

  • @jkhalsa

Really? I think his tempo is a nice contrast to the other 4 movements preceding it. Plus it sets you up for the blazing tempo of 6. But I guess thats the beauty of classical music isnt it? We all have different interpretations of the same notes

  • Beautiful. I've loved this piece for 25 years. I play it on violin and you are the first other string player I have seen or heard perform the work. I am amazed how expressive the double bass in your hands. I personally prefer the 5th movement slow and pastoral, and I think it would "sound" less technically difficult and would benefit if you made it into a dreamy Irish air, rather than the dance that it is right now. You take the 6th movement blazingly quick, very exciting. Bravo to piano.

  • serenissimo, bellissimo... compliments! please do tell if you ever wish to hear it performed by someone else :)

  • Thank you so much for posting this. What a surprise treat...haunting, lyrical, simple.

  • This is the only version I have heard with a double bass. I have watched it a number of times and feel that this was a very good version of one of my favourite Vaughan Williams' pieces. The piano accompaniment was also very good. My favourite version is with viola and piano; check out the version done by Rachel Gelfeld, who does a beautiful job on the three movements she does (I, II & IV).

  • i enjoyed this version a lot. I am playing this for my entrance into the music program on the clarinet. Its such a pretty piece :)
