We internet geeks tend to be meek and mild mannered in public but deep down, we want to be badasses who don't take crap from anyone and use the internet to escape thanks to people who nag at us at work who in turn get nagged at by their superiors and so on and so on.

@jayfeatherjunkie He was timid on TNG as well, it was just in this episode he was recreating the crew and living out fantasies on the holodeck. The name of the episode is "Hollow Pursuits." A very funny episode.
