I used to think when I was a kid that he tried to escape and was simply caught and put back onto the track, but as I grew up and paid attention to what he was saying, it became more obvious that he drove onto the track himself. I suppose it's still possible that he was trying to escape, but I think it was more likely that he KNEW he would never be able to outrun the magnet and simply drove onto the track to face his inevitable demise like a man. I guess there's no real way of knowing for sure.

I see the crusher as death - it has no emotions, no feelings, no nothing. And all cars eventually get old and get taken to the junk yard, from where they no doubt end under the crusher aka there is no escaping death - you will get old, get sick and die.

you know, this song wasn't that bad at first, when you were a kid and the only set of lyrics that didn't fly over your head were the words "worthless". it's bad when you figure out what the lyrics really are and that one of the cars commits suicide. Congrats Disney, you managed to kill my childhood as well.
