We were crossing the Bay Bridge and traffic can to a stand still, then Police Car with siren screamed up the far left lane and to our horror a classic VW Beetle Bug was fully engulfed in flames in the far left lane. We hope no one was injured.

  • No they dont u tard, they are a very fun and reliable car! The main reason they would ctach fire is because the owner failed to attach a clamp on the fuel hose that attaches to the carb. It is a common mistake that is easy to make. Without a clamp the fuel pressure simply blows the hose off soaking the motor with fuel which of course it being hot will catch on fire. Never put down a car just because of your own immature opinions, because your opinion doesnt really matter.

  • I would say the biggest cause of accidents in SF is the rude and aggressive drivers there. It is the worst city in California for driving on the freeway. People cut you off and will not let you change lanes. These are truly stupid people in the Bay area.

  • @videogamerepairs I KNOW YOU GOT THAT RIGHT, THE BAY AREA DRIVERS ARE NUTSSSS

  • @iwillfindyouandkillu Cool story, Bro.

  • This was common on the old VW bugs, the fuel hose ran through the firewall against metal and next to throttle cable , one or the other would rub a hole in the fuel line. Then the fuel would ignite from the sparks from the generator, Poof!

  • @562vert I doubt anything is left worth using. Slightly overheated.

  • @VOLKSWAGNUT RIP but i bet some parts will be still used to help keep another vw alive

  • That's a shame another classic VW lost.

  • @ReetardTV Yeah they have firefighting equipment on their towtrucks and can apply first aid till fire and paramedics get there. Usually a the bridges the Fire departments are far away, other then the bay bridge that has SFFD on treasure island.

  • @fireheadquarters wow, i knew caltrans tow trucks had red lights, but sirens? thats new to me. For instance i was going to Oakland and right as i entered the 880 on ramp from San Lorenzo there was some construction going on and my car hit some sharp object as i entered and my car spun out directly into traffic! it was a miracle cause i thought i was a goner but the cars didn't hit me. A Caltrans truck was right there to and that guy used his tuck to shield me from traffic so happy he was there

  • @ReetardTV The caltrans tow trucks are considered emergency vehicles. They run Red light and siren to vehicle accidents and vehicle fires on the bridges. I believe the have fire fighting capibilities.

  • @videogamerepairs I live in sf, we dont have nearly as aggressive drivers as many of the so cal cities.
