My wife ended up buying this camera for me semi-locally in Fresno CA at a well established camera store called "Boots Camera". B&H, from my research, would have been our ONLY choice had we bought it on the internet. The rest of the online camera stores were sha-----dy.

B&H... hands down the best around. don't fall for the "cheap" guys.. they'll scam you and you may not even get the item you think you bought. go with B&H

They don't sell them super cheap like the shady dealers do. Everything comes with a full warranty valid in the US.
As of December 28, 2008 they have them in stock for $999.

Back when I bought mine, there were very few online retailers that sold them. I ended up calling around to local camera shops until I found one that sold them. I found that the big name camera shops didn't carry it at all.
