PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN
Hailing from Ballymun, County Dublin, Garry O' Brien taught himself how to play guitar at the beginning of his teens and hasn't put the instrument down since. Captured by the lure of Irish Traditional music at a young age, he was regularly urged to jam with the Douglas family and relations in their homes, often until his fingers were bloody. This introduction to music was the beginning Garry needed to create his uniquely diverse playing style, fusing Irish Trad, Gospel and Folk. This style led him to create some of his finest works to date such as ''Sad Games'' soon to be released. Garry O' Briens' songs convey honesty, passion and a truth that is seldom found in music today. Songs like 'Winter Streets' and 'Daddy Fix The Weather' display the beautiful song crafting style of Garry O' Brien, highlighting his endearingly original vocal melodies layered on top of a plethora of harmoniaclly interesting guitar lines.
