At Quest Software we have licensed the Microsoft RDP Protocol, and have enhanced it to make it perform well over even low bandwidth connections.

In this video we compare two VDI desktops side-by-side across the same WAN connection. The remote desktops and the client are all running Windows XP, but one of the remote desktops is enhanced with Quest Software's Graphics Acceleration for RDP.

This enhancement both compresses RDP and alters the way it is drawn on the screen, make it display high quality graphics and animations in a rapid fashion, which is just not possible with the standard Microsoft Remote Desktop Client and RDP Listener.

This enhancement completely changes how all graphics are displayed for VDI and Windows Terminal Services using VDI, so sessions use less bandwidth, and the display performance is like what the end user would expect, instead of sluggish and unresponsive.

This is not like other products such as Wyse TCX that only affects multimedia, and is tied to specific client devices. This improves all graphics, and is not tied to clients from a specific vendor.
