@jamesebarr1 Hi I'm working at becoming a classical guitarist myself, and I'm starting to learn this piece. I've heard allot of people give william's negative criticism about his lack of soul. What is the musical quality exactly that makes the difference the technical and soulful?

It's a bit like hearing "Respect" being sung by Renata Scotto. Great technique, no soul. The Conservatoire approach to classical music, which Glenn Gould so wonderfully stepped out of and still was accepted (miracle of miracles.) Same as Helene Grimaud. It's such a travesty that players think there is an 'ultimate' and 'correct' interpretation of music, especially Bach; it is far worse when that philosophy and approach are propagated by music conservatories. Play the soul, forget the opinions
