  • Oh and Elliott Carter is one of the world's greatest living composers. If you don't get it, that's fine, but it would be so much cooler to say, "I don't get it"...or say nothing at all, rather than being a loud-mouthed blowhard jerk. Don't you think?

  • Considering the flaccid response of this audience (even by classical audience standards) I am glad that I have left classical music performance.

This is AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE of a piece of great difficulty and tremendous expressive quality played for an audience of apparent zombies who seem to be looking at their watches, perhaps there because they want to be seen as cultured (or maybe forced to be there if it is a university setting).

Too bad - great playing and thanks for posting.

  • I don't get it.

    And, I don't think it's music. It's just science.

  • sounds a little bit like derek baileys stuff, did you added those harmonic tones in your arrangement or it was in composition ?

  • God this is beautiful

  • It's sad how people strictly define sonic beauty without making any serious attempt to comprehend other forms of sonic beauty.

  • do u know the skill .. put into this before u criticize ..try it

  • Finally, I understand what deaf people think music sounds like.

  • I think it is so fitting that they have the Scary Movie 2 actor Chris Elliot performing this amazing Elliot Carter composition on his 17 string Ibanez electronic half-sitar. It's also good to see that he's picking with his "strong hand"....

  • This post-modernism piece is not a masterpiece nor is Elliot Carter "one" of the great living composers. After 1945, music was more experimental and abandoned all other characteristics that gave birth to real music ( Classical & Romantic Eras). This is just shit compared to other genres.
