The Student Academic Advancement Services (SAAS) is a crucial service for low-income, first generation, and disabled college students on the UC Irvine campus. In late July 2009, the Division of Undergraduate Education called for the closure of SAAS. The SAAS office will cease to exist as of August 31, 2009.

This is an informative video about the closure of SAAS. It is also a broadcast of messages from UCI SAAS students regarding the importance of SAAS services and their determination to keep the office open.

  • to jhkimm1004,

there is no need to be mean and harsh. you don't see us trying to say that your program or whatever you are in favor of to die do you? this is a good program that helps a lot of incoming freshmens get situated with the campus and is a support system for them. i'm sorry that you may think that way saying that 'SAAS' should die. I don't think you are funny at all. So, please keep all of your negative thoughts to yourself.

    Thank you.

  • wow, I never knew what SAAS was, but it seems like a great program to help new students adjust to UCI!

  • some of the girls are hot as hell!!!

  • used to work here, sad to see it's gone

  • Looks like an attempted runaround of

    Calif no-special-treatment of ethnics law.

  • You guys had good idea but the execution was terrible.

If you said many students came from there then you should have contacted those students for more supports. You then show those successful students' photos for proof. Ask those students to call the office.

The interviewees' postures are also terrible. It's a bit too casual.

I wish they did not have to close it too suddenly.

  • It is a shame that UCI department of education is shutting down such a great program that is there for low income, first generation, and for students with disabilities.

Keep the fight going! Let your voices be heard! SAVE SAAS NOW!

  • i think useless people who talk about things without knowing them should be shot in the face.... die jhkim die
