Slightly longer version this time, again an early Sunday morning exercise.

Forgive the shaky camera work half way through. I was about to be splashed.

Note the covers over the wheelhouse windows, this is to assist in navigation and radar training (i.e. working blind!)

  • Was this a training exercise as it looked liked the Tynes windows were blacked out?

  • it was. see the text on the right of the video. it was an exercise where we test radar and plotter/navigation - effectively travelling blind only using the radar and plotter. For safety there is always someone on the upper (outside) steering position as a back up!

  • I support the RNLI all the way. I give as much as I can per month to these great team of brave people. I still try to donate more. God bless you all.

  • You're a kind and generous person - it's appreciated!

The RNLI recieve NO GOVERNMENT funding, it's financial reserves are running low - if you can PLEASE donate to the RNLI - WE'RE NOTHING WITHOUT YOU!!!

  • Same here bud. I used to buy everything in my local shop with a tenner, be it a can of spam, ten fags, bananas etx, and chuck all the change in the RNLI charity boat thingy. The woman in the shop thought I was mad 'cause I must have put over a grand in it over the space of a year, even though I will never need them, I like to think somebody will need it one day. I support the Air ambulance just as much, because I will need that one day with my mountain bike antics:o) 2 great charities. Big ups

  • it just shows you how much a little change can quickly add up! It takes about £1k to train a single volunteer for a year so big up yourself!

    THANKS FOR YOUR GENOROSITY!!

  • Shouldn't be a bl**dy charity. These guys risk, and sometimes lose, their lives on a regular basis "for those in peril on the sea". Give all your money to the lifeboats!!!

  • RNLI you do an excellent job and i feel that you should be noticed more by the public

  • Good video, greetings from a Spanish maritime rescue member, good work.

  • Thanks for your kind words and your support - I normally suggest supportting your local station but I'm not too sure which is closest to Canada!

  • Too right Fairmont. RNLI is run efficiently because government IS NOT involved. Parents returned to Canada from visit back home (Sunderland) & brought me a RNLI tote. I display proudly when in the market. Wish I could trade my 4 M&S for RNLI totes....next visit. Parents have RNLI shirts, stickers in car, use your X-mas cards and send donation yearly. You brave men & women are revered more than you know...even on the other side of the pond!! Keep up the great work - safe return home ALWAYS!

  • being a charity means the RNLI is free to decide what is best to do with the money it receives. Our training is the best and can only be done through your donations! PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL STATION!!
