This is a real sword..a real CHINESE SWORD, there is absolutely no doubt about it. Real traditionally made Japanese swords "nihonto" do not look anything like this. Any one who thinks that this is a real nihonto needs to do some reading and studying.
According to the Nihonto Message Board this sword is definately a modern Chinese fake. They can tell the difference between real Gunto and chinese "Copies". The Japanese don't use Damascus Steel for their swords. The Parade swords are inspired by French sabers. they are called Shikito in Japan.
@Yasukunidude Nope this is definitely made in Japan. The Japanese mass produced these type of katana during WW2. Some were just parade swords (just for show) and some were met to be used in combat. A lot of American WW2 soldiers got the swords from captured Japanese soldiers.
@yosmikey I thought the shi gunto was mostly for executions
