This is another RLC circuit that will light up a CFL. I'm using parts from a disposable camera.
It is a basic JT with a secondary coil. This is similar to Jeanna's JT except instead of a 3" toroid,(which I don't have) I used the transformer from a disposable camera. My output is 260VDC

  • hi can you use the transformer from a old cfl to make this. also why haven't you used the second transistor this time cheers

  • @MrDdogg42 This circuit was engineered by Kodak and /or Fuji. It can only have one transistor.

  • i don't see how you wire the bulb?????

  • can i use npn 2n3904?....and what size cap?....thanks man..

  • what transistor and capacitor can i use???????please answer

  • @ImmortalAcorn i just followed the instructions to the letter, i think.... the camera i used must have had higher ratings or some thing. or i just did it wrong and the voltage was running errant, i don't know. i doubt that it was pushing to many amps. but i did not have time to test it before i destroyed it... :( the transformer was about the size of a green pea so its not surprising that it fried.

  • Is there any way to make this without the center tap transformer?

  • @iamzid Really? What resistor, capacitor and battery did you use to get it this high? Did you make your own custom transformer?

  • i went ahead and put one of these of my own together. that little thing was putting out just over 1000V!!! like "WOE!!" too bad i had it sitting on a spiral note book and it arced out to the spring. after that it only put out 35V. oh well. it was still fun to do, and hay i learned something. do not place random metal pieces next to you HV project.

  • Thanks very much for your great work.

Have made this circuit, sorry to say it only flashes, can you say where I’ve made a Boo Boo please ?
