Words and Music by Walter Davis
Arranged by Bob Eggers
This live TV performance, hosted by Melrose Mayor Robert Dolan, ended a set of 3 songs where we challenged people to donate to receive a gift - the "To the Sky" CD. We expected to raise $2500 but far exceeded that goal. In the following minutes, we sang another song and continued to raise money for people in need in our community, ultimately hitting close to $5000!
Lyrics:
My baby movin' this mornin' 'bout half past nine,
Packed up all her clothes, didn't bother mine.
Chorus:
And my tears came a-rollin', whoa yeah,
My tears came rollin' down, when she kissed me good-night
And I know she meant good-bye.
Well now, if you leave me baby, it would break my heart, but
Sometimes the best of friends must part.
Cho.
Went back in my room, sat down a little while and
Thought about my baby and I cried like a baby child.
Cho.
My ba-by mov-in' this morn-in' 'bout half past nine,
Packed up all her clothes, did-n't both-er mine.
Cho.
She kissed me good-night and I know she meant good-bye.
Yes, she kissed me good-night and I know she meant good-bye.
