The Iraqi insurgents showed that a less technological force can put a black eye on our military when the correct tactics are applied. They just didn't have the numbers to sustain the effort for a win. Russia or China does. Ask any military game theorist and they will tell you over enough time insurrection and guerrilla warfare beats formal military every time if they can sustain their numbers.

read some of the german generals memoirs and they will all say just about the same thing i just said, hitler did not listen to his generals. he was a politician not a military leader.

this was a common problem with hitler, his generals had an enormous amount of sucess with the first part of the war, that made hitler too over confident with his militarys might, so he took "full command" of all his armys and ordered where and when to attack (blocking out his generals) well look at at the outcome hitler lost the war. the only general that outspokened hitler was erwin rommel but this disobediance is what got him killed. hitler ordered the gestapo to kill him.

techically hitler knew that russia was not weak, he did know they had manpower but he also knew that russia was not capable of defeating germany, which is true. his generals said give our men the winter supplys and we will take russia by spring 1942 but hitler did not listen to his generals and commanded them to attack. well if your armys are not prepared for such weather climates as russian winters, your going to lose more men to the weather and not to the russian bullet.
