May 26, 2009 performance of the first portion of the Glazounov Alto Saxophone Concerto, performed by Bryce Walburn,17, and the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra of Lancaster, PA. Bryce was the winner of the 2009 Women's Symphony Association/Lancaster Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. Bryce performed the concerto three times for thousands of elementary school students in Lancaster County. Due to time constraints, approximately half of the concerto was presented for the audition, which was further truncated to the length presented here.
Note: for those of you who know the concerto, please forgive the mistake in the violins four measures before rehearsal #5. This caused some confusion and missed entrances. The concerto was performed following a 15 minute rehearsal the week preceding the concert. Many of the string players were reading the music for the second time.
Note: Please excuse the excess background noise and inconsistencies in the audio. Due to the fact that over one thousand 3rd through 5th graders were in the audience, a quality recording could not be obtained.
Please comment (please be polite)
