This video was shot as Hōkūle'a traveled approximately 1,000 miles south of Hawai'i to Palmyra Atoll as part of the training for the Worldwide Voyage in which the traditional Hawaiian canoe will circumnavigate the globe using ancient Polynesian navigation techniques. Hundreds of miles from the nearest land, the crew experienced the peace of the ocean.

On board they could reflect upon our relationships with the ocean, the land and each other. They now carry with them the concept that as crew members on our larger canoe, Earth, it is incumbent upon each of us to care for one another and our resources in order to survive.
