Last night just before 10pm, police arrested Juan Lamas on the 100 block of East Birch St.

According to Coalinga Police Chief Cal Minor, at 9:43pm on Nov. 9th 2011 a call was received of shots fired on the 100 block of Birch.

Officers responded and made contact at the residence where the shooting took place. According to the Police Chief, the resident reported a man had approached his house with gun and shot at him, he then returned fire, striking the man twice.

Some reports say that Lamas said the man tried to break into his house.

After responding to the scene, Coalinga Police received a call about a man laying in the gutter on Cedar St. just past the Coalinga Plaza. Police arrived on-scene within two minutes according to a witness who had seen a man bent over some rocks bleeding and offered assistance.

The 31 year-old male Timothy Dominguez was pronounced dead at the Coalinga CRMC Hospital and the police have Juan Lamas in custody as they continue investigating the incident.

According to the Fresno Bee Lamas was arrested on a outstanding felony warrant shortly after the incident.

The police are still investigating.
