It's not any advancement in technology. The bikes are just bigger in displacement for their class. A 250 four stroke is twice the displacement of the 125 2-stroke it used to run against. Put a 250 2-stroke in with an equivalent 4-stroke, and the 4-stroke gives up about 10hp. Put a 450 2-stroke in with the 450 4-strokes, and the 4-stroke would easily give up 10 hp, if not more.

If they'd run equivalent displacements, we wouldn't even have 4-stroke MX bikes.

this jump is so much better in real life. at my campsite i could see bikes flying up over top of the trees when they hit this jump. they might have tamed it a little over the years though cuz now all the pros hit it and a lot of 450 amateur riders do. it's tight though watching how long the riders stay in the air.
