This video was taken at my parents house in Maryland. I'm sure there are lots of places like this up the east coast or midwest.

Judging from the specs, no. Looks like the Flip MinoHD can record in 1280 x 720 resolution whereas the Canon 1100 IS resolution is a max of 640 x 480. Also, the Flip cameras are designed to be video cameras, wheras the Canon Powershot's were designed to be still cameras (with video functionality). So the Flip probably will give better quality.
