NP and I'm sure you know what I mean that this sport isn't something you can just turn off forever... He'll be back someday and until then I'm going to support whatever he wants to do as long as he gives it his all.
He and his sister have had many opportunities that I didn't have as a kid already and I plan to keep that trend going. As long as they get good grades and pick things that they enjoy and are committed to then it's all good. You're only kids once so they need to enjoy it. :-)

True I'm just giving you a hard time. Through out school I played baseball football, hockey, and boxed while still being able to ride every wknd.
All I wanted to do was ride my bike ever since I was 9.
One time I was being pushed around in line in 1995 to get McGraths autograph. My dad was in line for steve lamson and he yelled at me to stop being pushed around. (I was 9) McGrath heard my dad yell and looked up, he picked me up and brought me over to get an autograph. Ever since then..

All good points but not when you're 9 y/o and are good at other sports too.
MX gets in your blood and he'll be back but no pressure to do so. If you're head isn't into this sport 100% then you could easily become the next injury/fatality or cause it.
Life is too short already!

Well I had a couple friends get seriously injuired, and even die in a car accident. We should stop driving.
After 9/11 I stopped flying.
My uncle died in his sleep so I stopped sleeping.
I saw on the news someone get struck my lightning so I quit going outside.
Someone broke into my friends house and robbed them so I sold my house and now I live in a cave.

I didn't understand either at first but in short we burned ourselves out on it. In addition some friends we seriously injured (and worse) so we decided to take a break.
