The Dance Scene in the Theo Angelopoulos Masterpiece "Ulysse´s Gaze" AKA "To Vlemma Tou Odyssea". Is an unique scene that memorializes the New Year's Eves from 1945 to 1950, witouth a cut!!!. 10´13 minutes of emotions. I don´t wanted to cut the clip, but Youtube limited the videos to 10 min. so, the scene is posted in 2 parts. This video has been posted to encourage people to see "Ulysse´s Gaze", y don´t want to violate the therms of copyright. If you want to see more, buy the DVD.

  • A great scene from a great movie.

Keitel is perfectly casted in that role.

He always has that inquiring, searching look in his eyes, the Ulysses gaze...

  • Saw this film yesterday in an old movie theatre in Holland. Was so great. This scene is so perfect.

  • Amazing scene

  • This particular piece of music is sadly not included in the soundtrack I purchased, can you tell me the title please?(I know part is Olde Lang Syne)

  • Damn commies. Thank you for ruining my country.

  • verry moving scene... several (dark) years of Romania's history and our greek community, compressed in several minutes

    greetings from Bucharest

  • this is a briliant movie, that perhaps could have been shortened by 15-20 mins without losing much of its effect. But it is Theo's vision after all, and i can respect it.

no film maker understands the burden of our collective personal and social history like Theo.

  • Pure Genius!!!

  • no director has ever made me laugh as much as theo has.master of comedy.thank you theo.

  • A majestic film, and this scene shows (again) Angelopoulos' mastery of the long take and choreography. He achieves so much without resorting to so much of the dumb and needless fast editing that so many directors today take as being exhilaratingly cinematic. I think the influence of Mizoguchi's Ugetsu is also apparent (as in his earlier Travelling Players); not just the fluid passage of time, but in particular the scene near the end of Ugetsu with Kinuyo Tanaka's magical ghostly appearance.
