Wow, I think the reason that they're so incompetant is that they really don't give a shit. They don't make the moves callers ask for sometimes or they move the wrong pieces. I don't think any of them have even ever played chess. lol

It's interesting that the "hosts" know very little or nothing at all about the topic or subject matter...

They don't let the obscene calls run long enough really. In episode 6, they let one run a bit, and to great effect.
I don't think the "producers" contribute to the overall production much. There's obviously a severe lack of planning or preparation. Hell, they don't even have everything set-up before they start filming. In this episode, if you listen, you can actually hear the audio from gdm starting and the "login" sound from Ubuntu. Although, it's great that they use open source software.

If the show is scripted at all, there doesn't appear to be much preparation involved. It seems as if everyone gets there about 5 seconds before they start filming.
Think of it this way: What better way to get people to watch your show than to orchestrate several prank calls, so that people watch it for comedic relief.

Nice "Eric the actor" impression in this one.

I remember one episode, I think it was episode 1 actually, where a girl from the Ukrane (she sounded Russian) called in and talk to Tana, and she seemed so excited to get to play Chess, she made a move then got hung up on, then called back still so excited about it all. I felt sorry for her because she seemed so nice and sounded so damn cute.. it seemed like she was maybe poor or something, couldn't afford a computer to play online.

Its because after they say that the people say innopropriate stuff

and what about the presenters? both agathe and the other presenter i've seen (ep. 2) seem to be labouring under the impression that the show is genuine and their doing their heroic best in difficult circumstances but in ep6 tana acted very much like she's in the the joke. i can't say that i'm totally sure what's going on - perhaps i should check out some of the earlier eposodes. it's certainly very compelling.
"Chess Now" will no longer be called "chess now". As of today, it will be called "Hello, can I make a move - Hello, are you there".
