Did you see his interview with Oprah. Nice guy. But how is it that a Mayor of a city of only 280,000 people gets this much attention for saying something that he was on the fence about? How much national power should a Mayor have. Ray Nagin didn't have much power in New Orleans. Kasim Reed doesn't have much power in Atlanta, and these two cities have more problems and more at stake. I just think that Booker is just a target cause he's doing things right.

Well we should be clear, he didn't start getting attention just now because of this gaffe, people noticed this gaffe because he was *already* getting lots of national attention before it happened, for quite a few years now. In fact it's often pointed out that he's more popular outside of Newark than inside it, and he seems to actively court that status. BTW I've actually met him and worked with him a bit, and he is def a very likable guy, yes.
