  • I'm playing in the pipe band thats going to be there this coming Sunday 28th June at the country fair, will be interesting to see :o) , I find it very interesting to look at old pics of villages towns and so on and how things change, sometime not for the better.

These must have been around 1900 or there abouts by the looks of the cars

    Thanks for posting

  • The photos range in date from the 1870s up to the 1940s. But most were taken around 1900. The only one that's possible to date accurately is the photo of people gathered near the Bell Inn in Nottingham Street. They were celebrating the Relief of Mafeking in 1902.

  • For anyone who enjoyed this clip of old Melton Mowbray, I've just posted a 5-minute video with photos which fade from the old to the present day. It's in widescreen format with the option to view in high quality. YouTube doesn't let you put links here, so simply copy and paste this into the search field to find it: T2PemcEYrSY

  • My Great Great Grandparents lived at number 20 Burton Street. My Great Great Grandpa Robert Jackson had a Butcher's Shop on Nottingham Street.

1:16 - 1:30. Where the huge tree is is where they lived!

  • Just as well I suffer from anmesia then isn't it. Lovely though truth be told. Doesn't seem very different apart from the slight changes over the eras.

  • I remember Melton Mobray from my childhood. These images have brought back so many memories.
