@99Jessabel99 The Black Forest Horses actually descend from the Norikers. Both breeds are around the same size, though the Noriker is about a hand taller. The Noriker is from Austria and the B.F.H. is from Germany. Hope that helps=D

that draft pull turnament is around my corner.. wow, i found a video of it in youtube!!! :DD by the way, it is bad koetzting, bavaria.. ;)
@discusdoc Barbed wire and shocking leads to injuries which is detrimental for such athletes. Also the animals will not want to perform like these horses want to.
True, in the horse world there is abuse just like with dogs, cats, livestock and anything else. Just because your childhood was skewed by sick and abusive horse handlers doesn't mean that the entire world is like that.

Long manes and tails sure are pretty, but darned impractical for work horses!
Nobody is scaring or hurting these animals. They're bred for heavy pulling...
My only concern would be LETTING the horses make repeated consecutive pulls on a sled they can hardly move. Seemed like they might be getting to the point of fatigue and muscle/ligament injury. Or at least getting soured on hard pulling.
Very different from American contests, this.
