I wish to call attention to some facts about Libya -

1) Life expectancy is 75 yrs for men and 79.8 yrs for women. (CIA World Factbook 2010)

2)The infant mortality rate is 18/1000 live births (United Nations 2011),one fifth the 1970 level, and over 90% of children are immunized (UNICEF 2009).

3) The literacy rate for men is 90% and for women a whopping , for an Arab country, 70% (www.answers.com).

4) Modern hospitals function in several cities and there is a network of maternal-child centers which suffered severe shortages during the years of economic blockade.

5) Per capita income in 2010 was $12000 (CIA World Factbook)

Colleagues who have worked there (before the blockade) were impressed by the quality of the free facilities and services. These achievements attest to a government that has attended to the people's basic needs for decades. Whats so "insane" about that? As we saw, hundreds of thousands of foreign workers have now become refugees or victims of mob actions.

"This is a sad day for the people of Africa... Muammar Gaddafi won elections and was a true leader. It is foreigners who toppled him, not Libyans. Gaddafi died fighting. He is a true African hero." - Cairo Mhandu

"We shall remember Gaddafi our whole lives as a great fighter, a revolutionary and a martyr. They assassinated him. It is another outrage." - Hugo Chavez

"If he resists and does not yield to their demands, he will enter history as one of the great figures of the Arab nations." - Fidel Castro

  • A wonderful video. Muammar al-Gaddafi is a saint. Easily the greatest humanitarian who has ever lived.

  • @davisoneill LOL! I uploaded this video and even i say your comment is stretching it too far....

Gaddafi was not a saint, but surely he was much better then those kings and dictators with whom America sleeps in bed with till date..

  • @nema1218 Who the fuck are you to say he is not loved by Libyans? You filthy American!! Mind your own business..

Indeed Gaddafi was not the best ruler, but people would support him over blood-thirsty Americans anyday!!

How many people did Gaddafi supposedly kill? 1000..Now to protect them US & NATO have killed over 50,000!!!!

Long Live the Afghans who are kicking American ass!!

  • Yet the rebels, too, were ordinary people who mounted their weapons on ordinary trucks while Gadaffi had been armed to the teeth by the west and by Russia for years. Nor do you explain why Gadaffi felt he had to rely so heavily on mercenaries if his people loved him so much. NATO did not invade Libya - Libya invaded itself. The "Arab Spring" is exactly that - Arab. Why didn't NATO protect Murbarak if he was their man? Or did the CIA take that week off?

  • @Iphidaimos1 You are an idiot of the highest order!

NATO did protect their man in Egypt, thats why they didn't even think about bombing Egypt when Mubarak was slaughtering the protesters mercilessly..Whereas they invaded Libya in just 30 days..Why not Bahrain, Yemen and Israel for the very same reasons?

The answer is because Wikileaks have confirmed that US had propped up proxy groups in Syria and Libya to rebel against the State..Since they always wanted regime change over there..

  • Trust be, an entire generation of Libyans will regret what they did in the name of Freedom. This is sad, I have no hope in Libya anymore. God bless Libya

  • The Libyans people weren't poor as the word is going around right?

  • @87fg The song is Margaret Singana -- We Are Growing . Thumbs up so others can see!

  • What is the name of the song in the video? This is a great video, I only hope that the invaders of Libya get their comeuppance.

  • a brutal dicdator who built this for his people whos the brutal dicdator now huh

  • A great president who did a lot for his country. Foreign companies would do anything to win a contract in Libya. This has been the case for years. So much work, jobs, wealth distributed. They have slaughtered him after benefititng from him for years. This word democracy has been so much misused and in its name, so much innocent blood has run, that i just can't bear hearing it any longer.

  • @Iphidaimos1 Bullshit. The NATO Puppets, like the Al Qaeda Terrorist Belhadj you worship, had the latest NATO equipment.Libya was under sanctions for years, & had mostly old equipment. Plus, the Puppet Government HAD NATO. NATO has 3/4 of the WORLD'S Military Power. Libya has less than twice the population of Orange County, California.

  • @AntichristComes not true lockerbie was a falseflag saif al islam always said we just signed to get rid of sanctions not because we have done it. He also said :"one day the truth will come out about who have really done it"I hoped that day would be know but they silenced gadaffi by execution hopefully saif will spread the word!

I don't think it is stretching it too far to call Colonel Gaddafi a saint. A saint is not someone who is perfect in every way, but someone who can overcome human weakness and selfishness by the sheer force of love. And I think that is a very accurate description of Muammar Gaddafi. Everything he did, from the nationalizing of Libya's wealth to the building of the Great Man Made River and the setting up of the African Union were acts of incredible love for the people of the world.
