Hey, I'm KOHPelord, the YTA for March 2009:

Sorry about my voice in this one, I was trying to reduce and remove background noise, and what you hear is what happened.

Due to time, I'm only able to discuss two (and a half) issues in this video. These are the issues of copyright and music licensing, and the selection process for YouTube's Partnership Program.

YouTube's Content ID System:

YouTube's Partner 'Help' Center:

The 'and a half' part is an issue that ties into both of these issues, but is mostly related to music licensing in the UK. YouTube has chosen not to renew their license with the Performing Rights Society for Music (PRS). In short, this means that YouTube users in the UK cannot watch music videos on YouTube. Also, thanks to PoetryCarvedInFlesh and TheBorzoi for letting me use parts of their videos.

  • YouTube will not allow a Partner to monetize a video unless they can prove they have the rights to use everything in it. I have seen a few Partners who upload content they don't seem to have the rights to, but they don't monetize them.

  • I've deleted two videos due to copyright claims. The videos were uploaded on separate channels. I have a video on another channel that was made by students at my college, which was recently muted by WMG, and some of those involved want to dispute it.

  • I've only heard what's already been posted on the forums and the YouTube Blog in relation to the view counts.
