Artistic impression of Bascombe Bungalows: 2 Duplexes to be located in the urban area of Eagle Hall of the Greater Bridgetown Area in Barbados. The design was commissioned by two siblings who wished to share the lot. A Duplex consists of an open plan on the ground floor(Kitchen, Living, Dining, Utility Area), two bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor and an optional attic level. The design is a synergy of aesthetic from the street scape, the visual art of Pieter Mondrian, furniture of Gerrit Rietveld. The consolidation of utilities, facilitation of privacy from the street, passive ventilation and efficiency of space use were strong generators that helped evolve the design

  • who did the 3d?

  • @DaElfer

archipelago a.k.a israel created the 3d in his free time using sketchup and windows media maker. feel free to critique it (and you do not have to be nice)

  • @izmarchipelago

i wouldnt want to be mean. This is meant as constructive criticism. Camera work, lighting, materials and composition need work. but then i know your only working with sketchup

  • Oh come on Michael.. Is that all you got? I didn't spend close to 1/10 of my life in architectural studio and critiques to accept a brief criticism. I welcome more of your opinion and advice. lookign forward to them.

  • @izmarchipelago

more or less the lighting is standard lighting. id advice research into the new lighting simulations out there. standard lighting tends to be flat shaded with no real variations in the shadows. I believe i saw a fake reflection in the front window, every material in life reflects. different glossyness and intensity but they all do. The camera is kinda jerky in its transitions from one move to the next and the compositions are more of someone with a steady cam than a piece of art

  • I agree with you. In the first instance I will make the time to study lighting and materials. I suspect i will have time after the first half of the year to improve my visual communication skills. I must also admit that the story board needed some development actually you hit the nail on the head with regard to "steady hand with cam" I will think of a concept, more so relate the cinematography with design concept of the dwelling.

  • I love this project - can't wait to see it complete. Only problem I have is it's urban ... vid makes it seem like it's on an isolate site
