The long walk to partial freedom: Some analysts blame it on a fragmented opposition in the 90's while others put it down to the famous IPPG deal that brought about minimum reforms. NTV takes a look back at that controversial quest for minimum reforms in the late 90s.

  • Raila is worse than Moi, he left Keyan 2 be killed 4 his own good. Cucu yangu had 2 hide 4 a week in Eldy while her friendz were trapped in the church 10 mins from where I lived

  • Great story until the very end when Raila tried to steal the thunder from the real reformists. Power hungry Raila only joined the opposition after the bitter betrayal when Moi refused to hand over the baton. Opposition would still have won the elections with or without Raila. Can't believe the journalists here are buying this bullshit

  • @72okoths I love you tribal views as always. Raila is always god, but i understand he is the only you have in your community. But we all know why he went to Kanu; he was to be handed over the presidency by moi only moi to change later. We saw what happened when Kibaki didnt respect the MoU. His hunger for power has made him lose big time. He had what it takes to be a president but his greed, double standards ........ has made him be the one who prepares way for others.

  • i realluy dont understand people commenting here, raila huwauma na nini??nd it isnt funny to notice that wenye humchukia huwa wanatoka 2 region moja.as in mbona munamuogopanga ivyo?raila is the only leader who has support across the board ,maybe minus central but who gvs a damn.in 2002, central, rift valley and north eastern all went for uhuru, and kibaki stil managed a lanslide outcome.kenyansoul i assure u kama sio yeye kibaki whom u love so much wud not be in state house ths tyme.

  • @Kenyansoul so raila is not a real reformist??ama what r u trying to imply

  • @SonNative part 2 title = 'MOAC JUMA'

  • Correction.

I meant '.....when it became after the Kimya professor debacle at Kasarani that it was Uhuru that Moi had given his blessings, and with Raila's political career...'

  • @wawaithira,I concur with you. The four KANU Vice Chairmen, among them Mudavadi, Kalonzo and Uhuru all had some hope that Moi would tap then for the nomination as KANU flag bearer. WHen it became obvious after the Kimya professor debacle at Kasarani, and with Raila's political career at the time reaching a cul de sac, they trooped to Uhuru Park where Ngilu, Wamalwa (God bless his soul) and Kibaki were holding their rally. THat is when Raila uttered the now all too famous words "Kibaki tosha."

  • That NTV documentary is not incisive at all. Plus the soundtrack makes it sounds like some media student trying it on without paying attention to what it is the audience needs to hear, Nation shindwe kabisa!!!

  • Raila Odinga schemed and not only removed Moi from power but also destroyed the evil party KANU.

This he did after many turncoat politicians failed since they were going to statehouse every night to eat Ugali.
