@Kennay32 Looking at the original score, however, nothing in the altissimo range is written around that area of the music. Also, Benny Goodman surely can play a high e with ease. It would take something much higher, such as a B, to throw an amazing player like that off. I would not be surprised if this was a live recording and he simply made a mistake. It happens to everyone, even the best of us.

@jnier if you play clarinet then you know that there are certain high notes that sound so gross that they are almost squeaks. unfortunately, composers like to use them so we need to learn to make them beautiful. maybe he was just playing a high "e" there

I am also not entirely sure but this is at least the way it is described in the CD booklet.
